He was married abt 1660 in or around LaRochelle to Jeanne Sohier, she was the daugther of Etienne Sohier and Claude Paré of Étricé and born on November 3rd 1639 in Etriche and baptised the same day.  she died in on April 16th 1699 in St. Augustin De Desmaures Que, and was buried on the same day in Neuville in the St. Francois De Salle Church cemetary.  Michel was confirmed in Quebec on May 20th 1664 and Jeanne in 1667, they had two farms, the first was in Sillery below Kebec City, the second was at 474 Chemin Du Roi in St. Augustin De Desmaures, not far from the riviere aux roche. They had 6 children in all of which 5 grew to adult hood, with Marie being the first born-in France abt 1661. The other children are Louise, born in Sillery on May 18th 1667, Margurite born on Nov. 25 1668 in Sillery, Anne Born on June 11 1670 in Notre dame QUebec, died befor 1681 in Kebec, Marie Jeanne born on Nov 4th 1674 in Notre Dame Kebec she died on Dec.26th 1744. The sole son and heir was Jean Baptiste born on Aug. 1672 in Riviere aux roche St. Augustin he was the one from all the Lineage continues he was married to Marie Francoise Amyot Dit Villeneuve, daughter of sieur Mathieu Amyot and marie Miville, they were married on Nov. 24th 1699 in St. Augustin.  OF course there are 10 more generations to follow, of which there isn't room on this site to detail, and the girls except for anne were all maried too.

THE THIBAULT

The ancestor Michel Thibault is originating either in the diocese of Angers or that of Poitiers and we do not know the names of his parents. According to census of New France, he was born between 1615 and 1641. This is a very imprecise bad, but maybe one day someone somewhere will discover a document giving us more specific information.

In France, about 1660, married Jeanne Michel Thibault Soyer or Sohier, born between 1604 and 1637, the daughter of parents who we are as unknown, a native of the diocese of La Rochelle, in the current department of Charente-Maritime.

Michel Thibault, came from France with his wife, Jeanne Soyer, soon after marriage. The couple fixed first on the coast of St. Ignatius, at Sillery, where he cultivates twelve acres of land already in 1667. Later they will move further west, in the manor of Saint-Maur.

The couple have six children between 1661 and 1674, only one son and five daughters. Two of these progeny establish links in this genealogy, until my father, Roger Rochon.

The first, family second, Louise Thibault, born 18 and baptized May 21, 1668 in Sillery, became the wife February 17, 1681, the ancestor Rene Alarie or Alary, born in 1648, from Notre Lady of the Poitou Neuville.

The second, which is the third family, Marguerite Thibault, born November 25, 1668 and baptized 27, Sillery, became the wife at Neuville, on 1 March 1683, the ancestor of Stephen Gilbert, born about 1653, originally from Aulnay, Borough of Chatellerault, the bishopric of Poitiers, in Poitou.

The grandmother, Jeanne Soyer has 30 years, the census of 1667, and she received the sacrament of confirmation, in Quebec City, May 19, 1671. In the 1681 census, she is 45 years. It is recorded to have 95 years to his burial at Pointe-aux-Trembles, Quebec, 20 or 30 April 1699.

The grandfather, Michel Thibault is confirmed in Quebec City, March 23, 1664, at the age of 35 years. He is enrolled in the 1667 census, have another 35 years at the Côte St-Ignace, Sillery. In the 1681 census, it has 40 years, to the lordship of Maur, St. Augustine. He died on 5 or 15 February 1715, registered at the age of 100 years and 3 1/2 months, buried the following day in St. Augustine.

The name comes from the Germanic word Thibault, made up of two components, "Theod" and "bald", meaning fierce people. A character won a victory over the Vikings in the ninth century and the son was named Thibaut.

The baptismal certificate for michel, is to be found on the web forum site of GénéAmis, they have people in France who rearched the batpismal entries for both Michel and Jeanne.  These are as follows=for michel-born on May 27th 1629 in Chasseigne (notre Dame) department of Vienne to the union of Mathurin Thibault and Jeanne Christon.  You will find the act for michel on the site des archives de la Vienne en Ligne for the years 1619-1660 on Page 67 of 119 its in latin.  For Jeanne Sohier, there is the sohier.free.fr/famillie37.pdf site that gives the parents as Etienne Sohier and Claude Paré and the baptismal date as 03/11/1639. there is also a second site that gives the same information, as well the first site above also has the same information within the Archives Départementales du Maine-et-loire-registres paroissiaux es d'etat Civil Étriché for 1605-1640(april)-baptismes vue 179, please note that both michels and jeannes Bapthismal records can be down loaded from the first above web site PDF.
Now if some one can only find Marie's baptismal records, from there it should be able to determine a possible date from which  they  embarked for New France, and there for what ship they took as well as a possible date for the marriage of Michel and Jeanne.

I have been working with the people from Gene-Amis Forum, I was sent the date that Michels mother died, in Chasseigne, according to the person who researched it she died on the 17th of May 1675 in that town and was buried in the church cemetery of Notre Dame de Chasseigne,  I have a copy of the archeve departmential for that same church for the years 1662-1710 E-Depot 314 GG 2 view 8,  it states that she was the widow of Mathurin Thibault, on the act, as well I found the brothers and sisters of michel a brother born on the 7th day of ? 1632, the writing is so hard to decyper that I can't make it out, then there is the sister, Mathurine, born on 28th November 1634, and the third child also a sister called Josannia born on the 2nd of September 1637. All are listed in various parts of the same site as above, as well I never found the burial/death act for the father, but it must be in there some where since his birth/baptism record states  that he was baptised on18th October 1601 and lists the parents names too, but again to hard to read clearly. I also found  two different baptism/birth records for Marie Thibault one in LaRochelle  and the notre dame church for the 31st of December 1661 in the archives of Charente Maritime, and one in Angers, for the church of St. Pierre for May 25th 1661, from the archeve de Maine Et Loire, the problem is that both are so badly writen, that its hard to tell who the parents are on the documents, if one these for Marie is good, all of the Laurendeau connections would want to learn of it for their genealogy projects.
