Nelson E. “Nel” Labrie, 85, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life from Vibra Hospital in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home on Columba Street in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on July 2, 1929, a beloved son of the late Adelard and Leontine (Marcoux) Labrie. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Cathedral High School and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Western New England College in Springfield. He was employed for 35 years and retired as an Operational Coordinator for the Monsanto Chemical Corporation in Indian Orchard. He was a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus and a member of the Fairview Assembly 2670 Fourth Degree, both in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where he was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart. Nelson was the founder and a recipient of the Pope Piux X Award. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Theresa M. (Davio) Labrie. They were married on February 3, 1951 at the former Saint Patrick Church in Chicopee and were blessed with 64 years of happiness together.
Besides his wife, he leaves his five loving children, Joyce M. Giroux and her husband, David, of Chicopee, Catherine A. Deecher and her husband, Joseph, and Thomas C. Labrie and his wife, Beverly, all of South Hadley, Patricia A. Gamble and her husband, Robert, of The Villages, FL and Francis E. Labrie and his wife, Lisa, of West Springfield; his 11 cherished grandchildren; his 15 cherished great-grandchildren; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Labrie and Davio families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving brother and three sisters, Fernand Labrie and his wife, Rita, Florestine Belanger and her husband, Edward, Aurore Robert and her husband, Roger, and Adrienne Roy and her husband, Wilfred.
His funeral will be held on Monday morning, February 16, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Because of his great faith, his family has requested in lieu of flowers that Masses be offered for the repose of his soul. Fernand H. Labrie 1925 2012 CHICOPEE Fernand H. "Ferde" Labrie, 87, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, June 18, 2012. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers. He was born at home in Chicopee on February 5, 1925, a beloved son of the late Adelard and Leontine (Marcoux) Labrie. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated in 1943 from Cathedral High School in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and attained the rank of Radioman First Class. He received the American Area Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Medal with Two Stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal with One Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal. Following his military service, he returned to Chicopee and was employed as a carpenter for over 35 years by the E.J. Lieberman Property Management Company. Active in his church, Ferde was a lifelong communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where he served his parish as a Eucharistic Minister, a choir member, a member of the League of the Sacred Heart, a former chairman and member of the Parish Council, a bingo caller and volunteer, the founding member and coordinator of the parish picnic, a former chairman of the Catholic Stewardship Committee of the parish, and a longtime volunteer for the parish Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Program. For his work with the CCD program, he was the first recipient of the prestigious Pope Pius X Award in the Hampden County Deanery for the Diocese of Springfield. He was a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus and a member of the Fourth Degree of Fairview Assembly 2670. Active at the Knights of Columbus, he was a longtime bingo caller and worker, a volunteer for the monthly spaghetti dinner and lead the annual sing along for the Children's Christmas Party at Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus. In addition, he was a member of the Aldenville American Legion Post 337, the National Landing Ship Medium Association, a longtime member of the Springfield Chordsmen, a member of SPEBSQSA and the Newcaneweng Association Honor Society of Barber Shopping. He was also a member of the Cathedral High School Alumni Association and a former member of the Bellamy Middle School Building Committee for the City of Chicopee. Ferde was also known for his generosity as he always gave gold dollar coins to many children asking only for a hug in return. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by: his dear sisters and their husbands, Aurore Robert and her husband, Roger, and Adrienne Roy and her husband, Wilfred; and his dear brother-in-law, Roger Piquette. He leaves his beloved "first" wife and best friend, Rita D. (Piquette) Labrie. They were married on May 19, 1947 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and just celebrated 65 years of happiness together. He also leaves his devoted children, Gerard R. Labrie and Susan A. Jodoin and her husband, Roland, all of Chicopee, Robert H. Labrie and his wife, Susan, of Goshen, MA and Peter A. Labrie and his wife, Wendy, of Monrovia, MD; his seven cherished grandchildren, Michael Jodoin and his wife, Elizabeth, Matthew Jodoin and his wife, Angela, Sarah, Alyssa and Hannah Labrie, and Simon and Andre Labrie; his two cherished great-grandchildren, Alexander and Natalie Jodoin; his dear sister, Flo Belanger, of Agawam; his dear brother, Nelson Labrie and his wife, Theresa, of Chicopee; his dear sister-in-law, Shirley Piquette of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews and nieces. His family would like to thank Sylvia from Home Instead and the staff at Holyoke Health Care and Holyoke Medical Center ICU for the dignified care they provided. Adrienne I. Roy 1914 - 2011 CHICOPEE - Adrienne I. (Labrie) Roy of Chicopee, died peacefully in her sleep at the Willi-mansett Center West Nursing Home on November 21, 2011. She was 97 years old. She was born in Blacklake, Quebec on July 21, 1914 and was the daughter of the late Adelard & Leontine (Marcoux) Labrie. She lived in Chicopee most of her life and in Granby, MA for 17 years before moving back to Chicopee. She attended St. Joan of Arc School in Aldenville and graduated from the former Mt. Mrs. Roy was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at the former St. George's Church, a recipient of the Pope Pius X Religious Education Award, an associate of the Sisters of the Assumption and a volunteer in local nursing homes. She was also a mentor at the St. Rose de Lima's Saint Anne Society. She also loved to sew, (she made several wedding gowns), knit and crochet. Her husband Wilfred G. Roy predeceased her on December 21, 1984. They were married on July 19, 1934 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July 1984. She was also predeceased by her son Donald, a retired member of the Chicopee Fire Dept. who passed away on May 24, 2009 and a sister Aurore who died on April 25, 2005. Adrienne is survived by her two sons, Ronald F., a twin of Donald and also a retired member of the Chicopee Fire Dept. and his wife Antoinette and Bernard J. and his wife Donna of Russell. Adrienne I. Roy 1914 - 2011 CHICOPEE - Adrienne I. (Labrie) Roy of Chicopee, died peacefully in her sleep at the Willi-mansett Center West Nursing Home on November 21, 2011. She was 97 years old. She was born in Blacklake, Quebec on July 21, 1914 and was the daughter of the late Adelard & Leontine (Marcoux) Labrie. She lived in Chicopee most of her life and in Granby, MA for 17 years before moving back to Chicopee. She attended St. Joan of Arc School in Aldenville and graduated from the former Mt. Carmel High School in Chicopee. She was a retiree of the former Elco Dress Co. of Holyoke. She was a communicant of Saint Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality of the church. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roger Robert who was Called Home on August 25, 1993 and her beloved daughter, Elizabeth A. "Beth" Borelli who was Called Home on April 19, 2005.
She leaves her loving daughter, Anne-Marie Barker and her husband Clay of Myrtle Beach, SC. Her loving son-in-law, Robert Borelli of Westfield. Her three cherished grandchildren, Dawn Moynihan and her husband James Joseph Moynihan, III of Birmingham, AL, Mark A. Barker and his wife Jennifer of Falls Church, VA and Christopher Bouchard and his wife Jackie of Otis, MA. Florestine A. “Flo” (Labrie) Belanger, 92, a longtime resident of Holyoke and Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life from Heritage Hall East in Agawam surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Black Lake, Province of Quebec, Canada on April 30, 1922, a beloved daughter of the late Adelard and Leontine (Marcoux) Labrie.
She was raised in Black Lake, Canada and came to Chicopee around 1923. She graduated from Cathedral High School and, following her marriage in 1946, she moved to Holyoke where she lived until returning to Chicopee around 1984. She was employed as a secretary and office manager at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke. She was later a secretary and office manager at several local businesses. She was a longtime communicant at Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She served both parishes in many capacities including being a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. For her many years of teaching CCD at Precious Blood, she received the prestigious Pope Pius X Award. She was also a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality at both of her parishes. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward J. Belanger who was Called Home on January 30, 1983. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her loving daughter, Marie Ellen Belanger; her dear sisters and brother, Adrienne Roy and her husband, Wilfred, Aurore Robert and her husband, Roger, and Fernand “Ferde” Labrie and his wife, Rita.
She leaves her three loving children, Paul E. Belanger and his wife, Kelly, of Golden, CO, Margaret “Peg” Belanger of Chicopee, and Jo-Anne B. Fiorentino and her husband, James, of Rehoboth, MA; her three cherished grandchildren, Nicole C. Rita D. Labrie 1923 2012 CHICOPEE Rita D. "Reet" (Piquette) Labrie, 89, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life from Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born at home in Chicopee on February 28, 1923, a beloved daughter of the late Herve J. and Ida M. (Roy) Piquette. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated in 1940 from Cathedral High School in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She furthered her education by attending American International College in Springfield. She was employed as a bookkeeper with the former Piquette and Stebbins Mason Contractors in Chicopee, retiring in 1984. Previously, she was a cashier at the former Willow Theater in the Willimansett section of Chicopee and later was a bookkeeper with the E.J. Lieberman Company. An active member of her church and an avid gardener, she was a lifelong communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where she often tended to the parish grounds, cemetery and gardens. She also served as a former treasurer of the Catholic Stewardship Appeal Committee of the parish. She volunteered her time in the CCD office and helped count the Sunday collections for many years. She was a member of the Cathedral High School Alumni Association. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by: her dear sister, Claire Baptiste, who was Called Home in 1962, her dear brother, Roger Piquette, who was Called Home on December 20, 2007; her dear sisters-in-law and their husbands, Aurore Robert and her husband, Roger and Adrienne Roy and her husband, Wilfred; her dear brother-in-law Edward Belanger; and her beloved "last" husband and best friend, Fernand H. "Ferde" Labrie who was Called Home on June 18, 2012. They were married on May 19, 1947 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church and were blessed with 65 years of happiness together. She leaves her four devoted children, Gerard R. Labrie and Susan A. Jodoin and her husband, Roland, all of Chicopee, Robert H. Labrie and his wife, Susan, of Goshen, MA and Peter A. Labrie and his wife, Wendy, of Monrovia, MD; her seven cherished grandchildren, Michael Jodoin and his wife, Elizabeth, Matthew Jodoin and his wife, Angela, Sarah, Alyssa and Hannah Labrie, and Simon and Andre Labrie; her two cherished great-grandchildren, Alexander and Natalie Jodoin; her dear sisters-in-law, Shirley Piquette of Chicopee and Flo Belanger of Agawam; her dear brother-in-law, Nelson Labrie and his wife, Theresa of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews and nieces. She also leaves behind countless flowers like her beloved crocus and tulips, delicate impatients and spider plants along with bright red geraniums and pink petunias that will never know her caring touch. The family would like to thank all of her loving caregivers including those from Wingate at South Hadley, Home Instead and especially Hospice Life Care and their extensive network of supporters. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, September 10, 2012, beginning at the St. Pierre Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 15 Chapel Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. He was employed for 35 years and retired as an operational coordinator for the Monsanto Chemical Corporation in Indian Orchard.
