Dear Denise:

The Pombert family is a very small branch of the very large Trottier family, which I have not spent a lot of time on researching because they are just too large, and so I basically have just concentrated on the Pombert branch. Since you did not indicate what information you really wanted to know I will start with Louis Pombert, my great-great grandfather.

Louis Pombert was born March 11, 1814, in St. Leon, Maskinonge Co., PQ, and he died February 26, 1893, in St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co., PQ. He married Mare St. Pierre on November 24, 1835, in St. Anne de Yamachiche and they had 13 children. Of interest to you I am assuming is:

No 3: Isaac Pombert, b.o. March 31, 1838 in Yamachice, St. Maurice Co., PQ, and he died on January 1929 in Milton, Vermont, I believe. He married Julia Charette on October 17, 1859 in St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co., PQ, and they had 9 children:

1. Isaac, b. July 3, 1860, St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co., PQ. He married Elisabeth Levesque on October 24, 1892 in Cheboygan Co., VT, USA. He remarried on April 8, 1902 to Elise Lacerte in Trois Riviere. This is all I know about Isaac, and I assuming that he might have returned to Vermont as I have not been able to find anything more on him in Canadian records so far.

2. Marie, b. January 24, 1863, d. June 11, 1864, in St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co. PQ.

3. Marie Louise, b. January 14, 1865, in St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co., PQ.

4. Georges, b. March 7, 1867, in St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co., PQ.

5. Joseph, b. February 25, 1870, in St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co., PQ.

6. Clara, b. March 23, 1872, in St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co., PQ.

7. Eloise, b. May 25, 1874, d. September 27, 1875 in St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co., PQ.

8. Marie Malvina, b. July 18, 1876 in St. Etienne-de-Gres, Maskinonge Co., PQ.

9. Elisabeth (Fanny), b. November 25, 1878, Milton, VT, USA.

Isaac Pombert is on the 1851 census of St. Etienne-de-Gres with his parents as a 14 year old and he is there on the 1861 census as a married man with a wife and his one year old son Isaac. In 1871 he is still there with 4 children. In 1880 he is the census for Milton, Chittenden, VT with 7 children: Isaac - 20, Louisa - 15, George - 12, Joseph - 10, Clara - 8, Mulvena - 4 and Lissee - 2 (b. VT). On this census his name is written as Bombard, and this census tells us that he has probably been there for at least two years. He comes back to St. Etienne-de-Gres in time for the 1881 census, but he now has only 6 children with him as his daughter Louisa is missing from the census and Lissee in called Fanny and is 3 years old born in the USA. Isaac and his wife do not appear again in Canadian records that I have been able to find. There is no US census for 1890 and I only have Canadian content for Ancestry so I cannot search there census records. I did run across two other people on Ancestry who had Isaac and Julia in there tree and I did email one of them but the email came back, so they are not on-line anymore, at least not with the email address that was given. The other person was one who I believe did not give their email address, but both postings were concerning Elisabeth, the last child born and her descendants.

Theophile Pombert was born April 4, 1828 in Louiseville, Maskinonge Co.PQ, and he married Angelique Dandurand August 28, 1860 in St. Alexandre, Iberville Co., PQ and they had 10 children that I know of:

1. Caroline, b. October 17, 1862, St. Alexandre, Iberville Co., PQ, and she married Georges Girard in Winooski, VT, USA.

2. Marie-Elise, b. September 1864, St. Alexandre, Iberville Co., PQ., d. November 4, 1879 in Stanbridge, Missisquoi, PQ.

3. Virginie, b. July 5, 1866 and d. January 20, 1867 in St. Alexandre, Iberville Co., PQ.

4. Odila, b. March 18, 1868 in St. Alexandre, Iberville Co., PQ.

5. Adeline, b. February 18, 1870 in St. Alexandre, Iberville Co., PQ, and she married Ludger Delage on June 25, 1888 in Winooski, VT, USA.

6. Mederise, b. May 3, 1872 in Henryville, Iberville Co., PQ. and she married Arthur Delage on January 26, 1891 in Winooski, VT, USA.

7. Theophile, b. May 30, 1874 in Henryville, Iberville Co., PQ.

8. Jean Baptiste, b. June 29, 1876 in Henryville, Iberville Co., PQ.

9. Alphonzine, b.c. 1878 (on 1881 census - have not yet found the birth record) in Quebec and she married Amable Tringle on May 7, 1894 in Winooski, VT, USA.

10. Leocadie, b.c. 1886(?) and she married Alexandre Denis on September 29, 1902 in Winooski, VT, USA.

Theophile and his wife Angelique were on the 1881 census for Stanbridge, Missisquoi, PQ, with the name Bomber with 7 children: Caroline - 18, Odila - 13, Adeline - 11, Mederise - 9, Theophile - 6, Jean Baptiste - 5 and Alphonzine -3. I have not been able to find them in any further records in Canada. The marriages for the girls in Winooski, VT I found on postings on Ancestry, yours amongst others I believe, and I do not know when or where for sure Leocadie was born. I have yet to find anything more on these people. Both Louis and Theophile are two of eleven children of Antoine Pombert and Marie Hamel. If there is anything else I can tell you please let me know as I have the Pombert family back to Jules Trottier and as many of the descending families as I have been able to find. If there is anything you can add I would be most appreciative.
